Description
A popular tourist attraction in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Tahquamenon Falls State Park features a pair of waterfalls on the Tahquamenon River. The upper falls, shown in this image, is more than 200 feet across and features a drop of nearly 50 feet. The notably brown color of the water comes from tannins that are leached from the cedar swamps that the river drains. A path through the woods allows visitors to access a boardwalk platform that affords a very close view of the falls.
This is a panoramic image created through the combination of six individual photographs taken of different portions of the scene. The result is a very high resolution image that can be ordered in print sizes measuring up to 108 inches, or 9 feet, wide. By selecting either the horizontal or square format during the ordering process, buyers can alternatively configure a smaller print size that shows the falls but does not include the boardwalk and tourists on the right side of the frame. The image has been processed in a painterly style for enhanced artistic effect.
