Description
The John Oliver cabin was built in the early 1820s by John Oliver and his wife, Lurena. They were the first permanent European settlers in Cades Cove, located in the Tennessee portion of what today is Great Smoky Mountains National Park, USA. The cabin is one of multiple historic structures that are part of the Cades Cove loop drive in the park. Split rail fence of the kind seen in the foreground was common in the days before barbed wire. A mild painterly filter was applied to this photo in post processing to achieve an artistic effect.

WOW !! WE looked at this image and thought "that sure looks familiar". Then read your description. WE once lived in Maryville, TN. not far from the "Foothills of the Smokies" as the general area was known. WE visited Caves Cove many times. Now to your image. Outstanding !! The composition is perfect, the details too. The digital painterly effects applied worked fantastically on the photograph to transform it into a work of art. SOOOO VERY well done !!!
