Description
Michigan has more lighthouses than any other state, with more than 150 past and present. I found this one in the town of Escanaba, Michigan, on the northern shore of Lake Michigan. It operated continuously from 1868 until 1939, when it was replaced by an automated light offshore.
The Sand Point Lighthouse was restored by the local historical society between 1985 and 1990, and I’ve “restored” it even further for this image by taking out some modern electrical paraphernalia, power lines and signage, providing a cleaner, and perhaps truer historical appearance. I've also added a dollop of sepia toning to the image to further enhance the look.

What a beautiful, little light, Wes. At first I thought it was a church. With over 150 lighthouses, you could stay busy for a very long time. :) L/tw
