This tiny Tufted Titmouse was characteristically energetic, flitting from branch to branch, and hoping for a handout, I think, on the day that I took this photo. The scientific name for these perky and exuberant little songbirds is Baeolophus bicolor. They are year-round residents throughout much of the Eastern and Midwestern United States. I've processed this image in a painterly style for enhanced artistic effect, and added a colorful textured background to match the colorful personality of this friendly little bird.

After six years as a Chicago area transplant living in East Central Michigan, I returned in 2022 to to a new home in the far Northwest Chicago suburbs. I enjoyed my time in Michigan, where I had the opportunity to photograph local wildlife, especially the birds and waterfowl in State Parks and preserves that were near my home. But I’m now also enjoying the opportunity to explore the environs near my new location. Indeed, I see beauty and interesting things to photograph almost everywhere that I go.
