Actually, at around 40 degrees Fahrenheit, it wasn't all that cold for a January day at Kensington Metropark, near Milford, Michigan. But this female Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) was all puffed up, presumably as a way to keep warm.

Welcome to my library of photos on FineArtAmerica and Pixels.com. After six years as a Chicago area transplant living in East Central Michigan, I returned in 2022 to to a new home in the far Northwest Chicago suburbs. I enjoyed my time in Michigan, where I had the opportunity to photograph local wildlife, especially the birds and waterfowl in State Parks and preserves that were near my home. But I’m now also enjoying the opportunity to explore the environs near my new location. Indeed, I see beauty and interesting things to photograph almost everywhere that I go.
