Artist's Description
A Sandhill Crane (Grus canadensis) crosses a snowy field in angled light shortly before sundown at Kensington Metropark, in Southeast Michigan. Though these birds are a migratory species, a fair number of them seem to spend winters at the park, despite the cold and snowy conditions.

About Wes Iversen
Welcome to my library of photos on FineArtAmerica and Pixels.com. After six years as a Chicago area transplant living in East Central Michigan, I returned in 2022 to to a new home in the far Northwest Chicago suburbs. I enjoyed my time in Michigan, where I had the opportunity to photograph local wildlife, especially the birds and waterfowl in State Parks and preserves that were near my home. But I’m now also enjoying the opportunity to explore the environs near my new location. Indeed, I see beauty and interesting things to photograph almost everywhere that I go. You'll find evidence of that here in the variety of the images and photographic styles that I have chosen to present. The bulk of the images in this collection have been taken...

Sandhill cranes migrate along part of the Platte River in Nebraska each spring, about a hundred miles west of where I live. You have brought out the warmth and texture of the feathers, the intense expression, the sturdiness of the legs. Wonderful work!
