Description
Turn-of-the-century buildings, and brick, tree-lined streets provide a pleasing setting for antique lovers in Walnut, Iowa, a town of about 785 people that was designated “Iowa’s Antique City” by Governor Terry Branstad in 1987. The Village Blacksmith Antique Mall, shown in this digitally enhanced, high dynamic range photo, is one of about 15 antique shops in the town, located just off Interstate 80 about 40 miles east of Omaha, Nebraska. The town holds various special events annually, including the AMVETS Antique Show, which attracts an estimated 30,000 people to Walnut over Father's Day weekend each June.
