Description
The Dark-eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis) is a common North American sparrow, typically gray on its upper parts with a white belly. These birds can often be spotted on the ground foraging for food, often in snow during the winter months in much of the Eastern United States; they retreat to more northern climes during spring and summer. They are year-round residents in large parts of the Western United States. This bird was photographed on a cold January day at Kensington Metropark in Southeast Michigan.

Beautiful shot, Wes - I love everything about it -- the snow detail, the sharpness of the bird, and that lovely grass! l/f
