Description
The American Lotus (Nelumbo lutea), also known as the Yellow Lotus, is common to wetland habitats throughout the eastern United States and Canada. It is an emergent aquatic plant whose blossoms measure up to 11 inches in diameter. The blossom shown here was photographed in bright early afternoon sunlight, digitally processed and presented with a complementary background texture for enhanced artistic effect.
